About Me

I have always been a keen exerciser, with a particular passion for being outdoors, usually running or playing tennis. From a young age I spent hours practising with the track and tennis team, competing in various challenging events. However, it was during my career break, while playing with my three boys in wonderful local woodland parks, that I really connected with outdoor exercise.  Whilst charging about in the woods with my children, I would often squeeze in some exercises such as press-ups against a bench or a quick set of abs on the grass. After years of being cooped up in an office, I found spending time outside in the fresh air an energising, yet relaxing experience. I had never felt better. So instead of heading back into the office when my children were of school age, I decided to make a dramatic career move and set about building and growing my exercise dream…and so Green Fit was born! Love you to lace up your trainers and join the fun!

Experience

I have been workiIMG_1157ng as a Personal Trainer for over ten years. During that time I have been blessed to work in the beautiful outdoor space of Highgate Woods and train incredible women that are the life force of my vibrant group classes.  I have created a thriving and fun “outdoor fitness” business comprising of one-to-one personal training sessions and group exercise classes: Powerwalking, Running, Circuit and Weekend Warrior. All this takes place under the canopy of ancient woodland trees!

Although I now exclusively work outdoors, whilst I was building up experience in the fitness industry, I worked as a Personal Trainer for Fit Shape, a private fitness studio in Highgate and for YMCA Crouch End, teaching lively Circuit classes.

As a Yoga instructor, I have worked extensively with 3Tribes Yoga Studio in Crouch End and The Factory Gym in Crouch Hill.

Cross country craziness…

In addition to training others, I keep myself athletically sharp as an active member of London Heathside, which is a booming Running Club in North London. The group training, from timed track sessions at Finsbury Park to eye boggling hills runs along the ‘Haringey ladder,’ keeps me challenged and motivated. Participating in the  Cross Country season, enables me to indulge my inner warrior, by lacing up my spikes and slogging through a 6k course knee deep in mud and dirt.

Racing in a variety of events (10k, 10 mile, ½ Marathon and Marathons) helps me to focus on my own training goals, stay strong and experience the incredible buzz of the “runners high.”

Keeping my fitness varied and FUN is essential, so playing on The Wood Vale Ladies Tennis Team, keeps a major element of “fun” in my fitness. Although the practice involves happy hours of drills, when it gets down to match play, the competitive focus sets in, pulling on both my strength and speed. I believe that sport is essentially about concentrated play and self belief. Tennis always provides good “play-time” and mental focus.

Yoga

I was introduced to yoga during my first pregnancy. The postural awareness and mental calm IMG_4447that I received through yoga, was amazing. I am a 200 Hour Quaified Yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance and I currently teach in the Woods and also on Zoom. Throughout the years, I have continued to regularly practice yoga, which has enhanced my life mentally, spiritually and physically and enabled me to become an increasingly stronger runner.
